The Best Day EVER!

It was better than Christmas morning, better than my WEDDING (just kidding!!)

On Monday, September 27 at approximately 11am my iPhone 4 arrived!! My coworkers, wielding their inferior iPhone 3s, gathered 'round for what is hands down the best new product experience you can have: opening a brand new Apple product. The packaging and presentation is phenomenal, right down to the little paper-clip thingy for opening the SIM card holder. Work ceased for a few moments.

Life has changed for this internet-addicted social-media obsessed gal. Within a day I was posting Facebook statuses from the bus, checking into various Foursquare locations, Tweeting from the sidewalk and texting like crazy. Friends who already own smartphones congratulated me like I'd just had a baby or found Jesus. (only this is BETTER!!!!) Now when I attend marketing and advertising events I can be like all the cool kids!

The autospell on iPhones takes a bit of getting used to. "Skank" became "Shank" and the name "Orca" mysteriously appeared in a text to my friend Cecile. I guess there's a slight learning curve... But I've already discovered brilliant time wasting apps like Incredibooth which takes pictures that resemble the ones you get in a PhotoBooth. One click and it's on Facebook. Awesome.

Please prepare yourselves for thrilling future on-the-go blog entries like "Check out this guy on the bus", ""Funny Magazine Cover", or "I'm Sitting in a Restaurant, Iain's in the Bathroom so I'm Taking A Random Picture and Posting It on the Blog." It's gonna be great!

What are YOU doing this Saturday night? I know what I'M doing: downloading apps!!!!! I've already downloaded the essentials and a few others, including old-school Solitaire. I love you, iPhone! I think my marriage may suffer....

Paint!

It's finally time to choose paint colors. A few weeks ago, our builder Stan said he needed to know colors before Christmas. This seemed like plenty of time, but then we got hit with some late nights at work, early morning meetings, the token company holiday parties and more work, until we realized, "Holy crap - we only have a week left to choose!"

Like everything, we've had a lot of back and forth on what to do. All off white? Off white with accent walls in bold colors? A subtle color throughout?

Yesterday we rounded up as many color palettes and wheels we could find and sat down in the living room for a few hours and really talked about it. We looked at magazines, pictures of friends' homes, and discussed our what would go with our existing furniture.

Then we headed out to the stores for about 20 test pots. This morning we're going to paint a bunch of big swatches, take them down to the house and decide!

All of this running around made us pretty hungry so we stopped off at Denny's for a healthy, low cal meal.

MILK!!!!!

The dairy industry is pretty big over here, and there's even commercials trying to lure teens and 20-somethings to join this sweet as business.

Here are three screen shots. Some wacky dudes kidnap their buddy from his boring office job. But where are they taking him? A strip club? Bar? Concert? No, son -- these guys are from the "Get Fresh Rescue Team"! They're taking him to THE DAIRY INDUSTRY!!!! Awesome!

Whoa - like, where are we going?

Dude, MILK!

Get Fresh!

I wonder what the real Target would think of this....

I guess one advantage to being a small country, far removed from the US, is that you can totally steal registered US trademarks and no one's gonna know.

There's also a parking garage downtown that I swear has the exact same logo as Warner Brothers...

Or maybe THIS store is the real Target... Hmmmmm...

Latest ad campaign for my school

These hip posters are plastered all over Auckland AND all over school. Obviously, my age group is roughly 15 years above their target market, though who are they looking to attract? You can't really tell from this picture, but they cast the ugliest models EVER. Zits? You bet! Short and dumpy? You're hired! Ugly? Perfect! I wouldn't find it so irksome if I didn't have to stare at these every single day.
